Creativity
“The creative person is willing to live with ambiguity. They don't need problems solved immediately and can afford to wait for the right ideas.”
- Abe Tannenbaum
I only recently began playing with painting; my personal brand of perfectionism often influenced me to avoid less controllable mediums! I had to learn to embrace "imprecision" and "mess" as part of the process to creating emotionally evocative, personally meaningful, work. Now, I paint with regularity, and have multiple unfinished projects; my current challenge - to let the creative process develop in its own organic time!
Puppetry
"Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection... the lovers, the dreamers, and me...." - Kermit the Frog / Jim Henson
For whatever reason, my queer little heart developed a life-long love of the muppets and the storytelling powerhouse that is modern puppetry, when I was quite young. As an adult I can still remember the first time I wandered into a fabric store (while playing hooky from my intro chemistry class) and, seeing a bolt of hideously funky green fabric. Something clicked in my brain, and I started to play around with fabric-craft. Sewing is a meditative experience for me, much like painting, and I'll probably be tinkering at the sewing machine long into my golden years.
